Do you need an agent?
Everyone will have advice for you on this point. The truth is, having an agent can give you an edge. Most major publishers will not accept unsolicited manuscripts. A senior editor of a major publishing house told us recently that they usually return up to 150 unsolicited manuscripts per week. Having an agent will save you time, effort and financial resources.
Keep in mind that retaining an agent does not guarantee your work will be accepted for publication. Most agenting work is done by our firm's founder, Ms. Johanna Bates.
